Homemade Products Portokallidi was established in 2017 in a town right by the Evros River called Feres.
We produce traditional homemade tomato sauce.
We are the third generation of farmers in our family and with the contribution of Thrace’s blessed plain we are experienced in the production of quality agricultural products.
With hard work, love for tradition and the strictest specifications for the right cultivation and selection of the tomatoes, we have excellent quality of raw material since the beginning.
The secret behind the success
The secret behind the product’s success, up to a large degree, is based on the fact that we ourselves grow the tomato, with our main goal being to get all the quality features we can get, like the right color, brix, lycopene and many more.
The climate of the area is a very significant factor too.
Moreover, the traditional way of packaging offers a pure and homemade product, without additives preservatives etc.
Our Goal
Our one and only goal is to give the consumer the largest taste satisfaction we can from a tomato sauce.
We are trying to keep the quality steady and to certificate it with new awards.
We want to establish ourselves in the consumer’s conscience, not for our range of products, but for the unique and genuine flavor a tomato sauce can have.
How it started
The basic idea started in 2016, when I saw my wife do what she was doing every year in September(which her mother and grandmother did before her), making the sauce for the whole year. There, I understood that this whole procedure is nearly prohibitive for the modern woman with today’s way of life and that more and more housewives could not do it.
We are located in Feres, right by Evros River
Our business and our fields are located in Thrace, close to the Greek borders with Turkey and Bulgaria.
The Theotokos Kosmosoteira is a Greek Orthodox monastery in Feres, Evros Prefecture, Greece. It was built around 1152 by the sebastokrator Isaac Komnenos, a son of the Byzantine emperor Alexios I Komnenos.
The Wetland and Evros River
In Evros Delta, hundreds of thousands of birds find shelter and food every year, while it constitutes a very important natural resource for the local community, because of it's value for fishing, stock breeding, agriculture, climate, flood protection, education, recreation, science.
